Instructor Bio

I’m a marine ecologist, GIS educator, and commercial drone pilot in more than 15 countries with over 20 years of experience in GIS, environmental mapping, monitoring teaching and training across the Caribbean, California & beyond.

As the Founder and Director of Marine Spatial Information Solutions (MarSIS), I’ve built a career around one central mission: to empower people to use technology including drones & GIS together with participatory approaches to make data-driven, real-world impact.

Through my Training Academy, I’ve taught thousands of individuals and numerous organizations how to safely & professionally operate drones, to conduct drone inspections and mapping surveys, and collect accurate environmental data, analyze information and share their results to support agriculture, fisheries, conservation, disaster management and a number of other applications. My Participatory-UAS approach brings together science, technology and collaboration — ensuring that every learner, regardless of background, can build confidence and contribute to smarter decision-making!
